Geomorph Contest

Inkwell Ideas is running a geomorph contest and the deadline is pretty much now!  I just found out about it and submitted this geomorph.

The theme is "lava"

You can find out more about it and see some of the great geomorphs already submitted here.

One Thing: The Temple of Blood and Wine

Get It Here
"The Temple of Blood and Wine" by Aljoscha Krawulsky

One Thing I love about this One Page Dungeon is the carefully crafted imbalance of available black insanity stones and red drunkenness stones needed to access the final area/ "win" the adventure. The black stones are very easy to come by, but getting three red stones is much more difficult, and if the characters are greedy and try to kill the skeletons in room five they will never have enough red stones to open the room to area 9.

Area 3 is a possible source for the third stone, but there is just as likely a chance (1/6) that an existing stone will be removed from the party here. The solution to this puzzle isn't straightforward (which is a good thing), linear, or predictable.

One Thing: The Resurrection of the Bastine

One thing I have learned going through these entries so far, there are a lot of folks named Alex that like to make dungeons...

"The Resurrection of the Bastine" by Alex Welk

One thing I love about this One Page Dungeon is the setup. It is a clever take on the escort quest, where you have little to no control over a cat that must be guided through a dungeon filled with traps designed specifically to attract cats. The players will have to use creative thinking to get the cat past some of the obstacles, and this will definitely encourage brainstorming around the gaming table. I couldn't think of a clear way to navigate some of the "cat" perils as I read through the dungeon, and would look forward to hearing what the other players in my group had to say. The difficulty is offset by the fact that the cat is immortal, and respawns at the beginning of the dungeon, which allows the party to try new strategies if the previous effort resulted in cat-death.

One Thing: Vampires and Werewolves

Get It Here
"Vampires and Werewolves" by Alex Ward

One thing I love about this One Page Dungeon is the hook. The party encounters werewolves and vampires fighting to the death, and must decide to either aid one of the two groups, attack them all, or potentially just try to stay out of it altogether. This initial choice shapes the course of the adventure, and would likely shape further adventures in the campaign.  Players may end up using the werewolves abandoned warehouse as a home base while fighting alongside the lycanthropes, tearing through the Vampire stronghold looking for answers, or they may reside with the Vampires and trash the warehouse. They might end up fighting their way through both locations. It all hinges on the opening scene of the adventure, and the One Page Dungeon is flexible enough to accommodate player choice.
